FAQ

Who qualifies for assistance?
Assistance is available to children ages 18 and under whose families meet certain income criteria. Eligibility is determined by the Carroll County Health Department. To request assistance, please contact the department directly, at 410-876-4900.

How do I request assistance?
Contact the Carroll County Health Department at 410-876-4900.

Do I need a referral?
No. While some families are referred to us by local agencies and organizations, you do not need a referral to request or receive assistance.

What if my child needs emergency medical care?
Eligibility is determined by the Carroll County Health Department. To request assistance, please contact the department directly, at 410-876-4900 and ask about the CCCF voucher program.

If I qualify for assistance, can I take my child to any physician?
Yes, but only if the Physician will accept the voucher provided from CCCF. The CCCF has existing relationships with certain physicians who have agreed to provide free or low-cost care to eligible children. If your child qualifies for assistance, he or she will receive a voucher from the Carroll County Health Department to visit one of our highly qualified participating physicians.

Do I have to use a medical care voucher by a certain date?
Yes. The voucher is requested and given for the date of illness or the date the appointment is made.

Do I have to live in Carroll County to receive assistance?
Yes, you must be a Carroll County Resident.

Can I request informational materials (e.g. brochures) to distribute at my organization or place of business?
Of course! Please call 410-871-6086 to request materials.

How do I make a donation?
Please mail your donation (make checks payable to the Carroll County Children’s Fund) to:
The Carroll County Children’s Fund, Inc.
P.O. Box 93
Westminster, MD 21158

We will send you a donation receipt for your records. Since the CCCF is a United Way charity, you may also donate through payroll deduction.

Are donations tax deductible?
The CCCF is an approved IRS 501 (c)3 charity, and all donations are tax-exempt to the maximum extent allowed by law. Of every dollar donated, 93 cents goes directly to help children in need.

What percentage of my donation directly benefits children?
Ninety three percent or 93 cents of every dollar you donate goes directly to children in need (according to Charity Navigator, 75 percent is considered ideal).

How is the CCCF governed?
We are governed by an unpaid volunteer board of directors.

How is the CCCF supported financially?
Since the CCCF receives no Federal and State funding, we are supported entirely through donations and grants. All staff and board members are unpaid volunteers.

How can I help if I am not able to donate at this time?
Even if you can’t make a financial contribution, you can still help by spreading the word about our organization, our mission and our good works. You can also volunteer to serve on our board or assist with our annual fundraising event, “The Taste of Carroll”. For more information, call 410-871-6086.
