Get Assistance
Who qualifies for assistance from the Carroll County Children’s Fund (CCCF)?
Assistance is available to children ages 18 and under whose families meet certain income criteria. Eligibility is determined by the Carroll County Health Department. To request assistance, please contact the department directly, at 410-876-4900.
Our programs and services include:
- Voucher Program
For uninsured and underinsured children, the CCCF offers vouchers for free emergency medical treatment from area physicians. The CCCF is the only charitable organization in Carroll County that provides same-day emergency medical care through existing Carroll County pediatric practices and family primary care physicians. (weekdays). Emergency dental care is also
available.
Note: Vouchers are coordinated and distributed by the Carroll County Health Department (410-876-4900), which also determines program eligibility.
- The Transition Program
Returning to school following psychiatric treatment can be stressful for students and their parents. While some children may feel comfortable discussing their illness with their friends, others may hesitate for fear of being teased or labeled.
With financial support from CCCF, Carroll Hospital Center and The Carroll County Public Schools' Transition Program helps ensure a smooth return to school for children recently discharged from the hospital’s inpatient or partial hospitalization psychiatric program.
Prior to discharge, each child is assigned a specially trained transition coordinator who schedules a back-to-school transition conference. At this conference, the child and his or her parents, along with the school principal, guidance counselor and psychologist, discuss key transitional issues, such as:
- Class schedules
- Homework
- Rejoining peer groups
- Explaining the absence
- Extracurricular activities
- In-school support
- Social events
- Medication needs
- Junction, Inc.
CCCF has also financially supported Junction, Inc., a private, nonprofit agency in Westminster that provides substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment services for children, adolescents, families and adults.
